ALAN DILLON THE ONLY MAYO PLAYER TO FEATURE ON OPEL GAELIC TEAM OF THE YEAR SHORTLIST

The GPA today announced the official nominees for the 2008 Opel Gaelic Players Awards for football. A total of 45 players have been named on the shortlist for the Team of the Year, with four players also nominated for the Player of the Year award.
The shortlist for the Opel Gaelic Team of the Year includes 45 players - three players for each position. The shortlist contains players from 15 counties including; Mayo, Galway, Tyrone, Kerry, Wexford, Dublin, Westmeath, Kildare, Cork, Limerick, Monaghan, Fermanagh, Armagh, Down and Derry.
Alan Dillon is the only Mayo player short listed for the 2008 Opel Gaelic Players Gaelic Team of the Year.
Dillon is in contention for the right half forward position along with Tyrone’s Brian Dooher and Kildare’s John Doyle.
Galway has three players on the shortlist. Finian Hanley in the right corner back, Padraic Joyce in centre half forward and Michael Meehan in left corner forward.
